A single-varietal plot of over 70-year-old País grapes located in Santa Ximena, Florida commune, in the Itata Valley. The vineyard is dry-farmed by Álvaro Señor Ledesma, with un-grafted, low-bush vines.
Intervention is minimal: only annual pruning and mechanical weed control using rakes and hoes. The plot is on a hilltop, which naturally limits yield and allows for grapes with greater concentration. The soils are granitic, with a low presence of quartz on the surface, and the plot has an east-facing exposure, receiving mainly morning sun.
The grapes are hand-harvested and destemmed using adapted traditional screens, with PVC structures over open tanks. Fermentation occurs with the skins for 15 days, with two pump-overs daily during this period. The wine is then pressed in a basket press and aged for 6 months in repurposed Raulí barrels.
Ruby red color with brick-red edges. The nose reveals fresh red fruits such as strawberry, raspberry, and mutilla (traditional name in southern Chile for murta or murtilla), along with notes of dried flowers and a slight hint of green apple. On the palate, it is light, fresh, and balanced, with medium acidity and soft tannins. A mineral character typical of the Itata Valley stands out, accompanied by subtle woody notes.
